Sacramento loves its sports. The fan fervor kept the NBA’s Sacramento Kings in town, and crowds pack the Golden 1 Center to see them play. But it’s not just basketball that Sacramento sinks its teeth into. The Sacramento Republic FC will become a Major League Soccer team in 2022, and the Sacramento River Cats are the AAA affiliate of the San Francisco Giants.

Beyond professional sports, Sacramento regularly welcomes top college athletes at track & field events, rowing, cross country, basketball, and more. It’s also a great destination for runners, with the California International Marathon drawing thousands each year, and a host of smaller running events throughout the year. Ironman also calls Sacramento home, making use of the waterways and trails.
