The Sacramento Convention Center expansion officially broke ground in August after crews began demolishing part of the existing building at 13th and J streets. But for those who travel to Sacramento for leisure and for those living here, it might not seem like a big deal.

But it is.

Conventions and meetings are Sacramento's largest drivers of tourism, and when visitors come to the city, they eat out at local restaurants, drink coffee from local roasters, and help keep Sacramento a great place to visit.

Over the course of the expansion construction, the convention center will be closed. Now is your chance to show your support of local businesses impacted by the closure of the convention center. So go out, enjoy that downtown restaurant you've been meaning to try, raise a glass to Sacramento, and help us all get excited for the reopening of the Sacramento Convention Center.
