Action sports fans, get ready: Sacramento will host the world premiere of the X Games League (XGL) next summer, June 26–28, 2026.

This brand-new global competition format marks the first time in X Games history that athletes and newly formed “XClubs” will compete in a league system, earning points throughout the season for a shot at a championship. Sacramento will serve as the first stop of the inaugural season, with the next event taking place in Japan the following weekend.

“The launch of the X Games League marks an exciting new chapter for the athletes and the fans,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “Sacramento and Japan are two places that elevate action sports with their energy, passion, and support. Starting the league in locations that consistently show up for the athletes creates the perfect foundation for what XGL is built to deliver — world-class competition, progression, and unforgettable experiences.”

XGL In Sacramento

The debut of X Games League will kick off in Sacramento, Calif., with organizing partner Visit Sacramento. The event will host more than 100 world-class skateboard, BMX, and moto-X athletes in addition to a full lineup of music appearances and an extensive festival village, known as X Fest.

“Sacramento is proud to bring such a world-class event to both residents and tourists,” said Mike Testa, President & CEO of Visit Sacramento. “Hosting the first league event for X Games is not only an honor, but a testament to Sacramento’s investment in providing our community unforgettable experiences.”

X Games League Format

The 2026 X Games Summer League schedule includes three stops – two regular season events and a championship event. At each stop, four XClubs will bring a drafted roster of ten of the world’s best male and female skateboarders and BMX riders to compete across various action sports disciplines. These stops will also include additional action sports-related events and a variety of cultural and festival experiences, live music, sponsor activations, and more.

Ahead of the 2026 XGL Summer Season, the four soon-to-be-announced XClubs will pull from a list of more than 150 elite skateboard and BMX athletes from around the world to complete their team rosters at the upcoming XGL Summer Draft. The Draft is scheduled to take place at the Cosm in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 5, and will stream live on ESPN+ on the ESPN App and via YouTube from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. PT.

ESPN will showcase more than 100 hours of X Games action over the next two years via live telecasts in the U.S. on ESPN, ABC, and ESPN2 and via livestream globally on YouTube.

Full event schedules, ticket information, and more details will be announced in the near future. Stay tuned to xgames.com and xgamesjapan.com and sign up for X club via email to get exclusive updates and early ticket access to all events.
