Sacramento’s Farm-to-Fork Legends of Wine event drew a crowd of about 400 to the west steps of the State Capitol Thursday night for samplings from 27 local wineries and cheese purveyors selected by Darrell Corti and David Berkley.
Corti, owner of Sacramento’s Corti Brothers market, was described by Saveur Magazine as the man “who knows more about food and wine than anyone else in the world,” and Berkley is credited with creating the White House wine list.
All wines featured at the event were within the Sacramento region and included Michael David Winery, David Girard Vineyards, Clarksburg Chenin Blanc and many more.
Event attendees sipped wine and sampled more than 20 types of local artisan cheese accompanied by fruits and vegetables from local farms as well as bread from a local bakery with the state Capitol as a shining white backdrop.
Looking down the length of Capitol Mall, attendees saw the sun set over Sacramento’s iconic Tower Bridge, all while a pianist in front of the Capitol played tunes on a baby grand piano.
