Calling all baseball fans – Major League Baseball is coming to Sacramento as the Oakland A’s will temporarily call Sutter Health Park home.

The A’s will begin playing in West Sacramento at the start of the 2025 MLB season for three seasons, with an option to add a fourth season.

Sutter Health Park, located within close proximity to Sacramento landmarks like the California State Capitol and Tower Bridge, is home of the River Cats, the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A affiliate owned by Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé.

According to a statement from the Sacramento Kings, the MLB is working with both the A’s and the River Cats to ensure that their schedules are constructed to meet MLB and MILB guidelines and that both teams have dedicated facility teams.

“I’m thrilled to welcome the A’s to Sutter Health Park, where players and fans alike can enjoy a world-class baseball experience and create unforgettable memories,” said Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “Today marks the next chapter of professional sports in Sacramento. The passion of our fans is second to none, and this is an incredible opportunity to showcase one of the most dynamic and vibrant markets in the country.”

Of the tourists who traveled to Sacramento over the past several years from almost every state and more than 14 countries for major events like Aftershock, GoldenSky Country Music Festival, and IRONMAN California, one of the city’s largest visitor bases was those from the Bay Area. Sacramento looks forward to welcoming fans of the neighboring cities to come and cheer on their team.

“Over the last few years, Sacramento has really added to our roster, with new music festivals, restaurants, and sports events, so the addition of the Oakland A’s is another reason for people to visit and explore our city,” said Mike Testa, president and CEO of Visit Sacramento. “We’ve seen firsthand with the Kings and the Warriors that when a Bay Area team is here, the fans travel to the city, they often stay in hotels, eat in our restaurants, support our local retailers, it’s a big win for our local economy.”

Information on tickets for the 2025 MLB season will be available once the MLB schedule is released later this summer.
