‘Tis the season! It’s hard to believe, but the holidays are upon us. This month is a great time to visit Sacramento because the weather tends to be more mild and there are tons of special events and other fun things to do.

Here are some goings-on happening around town that will certainly make your yuletide a little more gay.

Pink Wednesday (December 1)

Kick off the holidays with a night of drag performances and other festivities. Hosted at Revival at the Sawyer by the one and only A La Mode (a.k.a. Miss Gay Sacramento 2021) and the Sacramento LGBT Community Center, guests will enjoy curated cocktails, tasty bites, and upbeat tunes.

December Drag Bingo (December 2)

Local queen DoMe Moore hosts an evening of drag bingo at Mango’s on K Street, with proceeds going to WEAVE’s annual toy drive. Sacramento Drag Queen Bingo is a monthly charity fundraising event produced by the Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce. More info here.

Nightcap: Drag Cabaret (December 7)

Punch Line Comedy Club is hosting this joyful one-night only drag cabaret featuring some of the most outrageous talent in Sactown. Doors open at 7:30 and the show starts at 8 P.M. More info here.

Winter Queerland (December 11)

Come to the Gender Health Center from 12 - 4 PM, for an afternoon of workshops, giveaways, and other community activities. This event is put together in partnership with local leaders such as Demi Gooch, and Trans centered organizations including Trans and Queer Youth Collective, California Transcends, and the Gender Health Center.

KSGMC 202.1FM: Holiday Hits with a Splash of Sass (December 10-14)

After taking last year off, the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus is back with their annual holiday show. The group will be singing all your seasonal favorites, showstoppers from past years, and a few sassy new surprises to make the season even brighter. More info here.

Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley (December 1-24)

Theater geeks will love Capital Stage’s new holiday production. It’s an imagined sequel to Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice by Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon. Tickets to this delightful December rom-com are on sale now.

Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce Holiday Networking Mixer (December 16)

Meet members and allies of the Sacramento Rainbow Chamber of Commerce and enjoy light bites, festive beverages, and an ugly sweater contest. $10 gets non-members in the door and the chance to mix and mingle with local LGBTQ professionals. More info here.

The Nutcracker (December 11-23)

Of course, no holiday season would be complete without the timeless Tchaikovsky ballet. The Sacramento Ballet will be performing the yuletide classic in the new SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center. More info here.

The Bolt X-Mas Party (December 25)

Head down to The Bolt on Christmas Day beginning for a holiday meal, red and green Jell-o shots, drinks, and, of course, the “Bolt Boys” dancing to all the best club tracks. Doors open at 2PM and food will be served until it runs out.

LoLGBT+ Presents: Holiday Leftovers (December 26)

After you’ve come out of your Christmas food coma, stop into Punch Line Comedy Club for this post-holiday drag extravaganza that promises to be “as lit as a Christmas tree and better than eggnog.” More info here.

Murder Mystery Dinner (December 16 & 30)

What better way to close out the year than by hopping aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train for an evening of delicious food and drinks… and murder? The theme for the December 16 show  is “Ugly Christmas Sweater” and the theme for the December 30 show is “Midnight at the Mascarade”. Dress accordingly. Tickets will definitely sell out so book early!
