If you’re looking for a unique off-site venue, we’re excited to share this one with you. Sacramento’s favorite indie theater just opened a new preforming arts complex in the center of Midtown, one mile from the Sacramento Convention Center. The Sofia Tsakopoulos Center for the Arts, known simply as The Sofia offers two theaters and two galleries in a 45,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility. The Sutter Theatre for Children seats 365 in a traditional, proscenium-style venue. The Mainstage venue seats 257 offering a thrust stage allowing actors and speakers to walk out into the audience. Gallery A’s capacity is 106, standing and Gallery B’s capacity is 131 standing, and all four spaces may be rented for your event.
Home of B Street Theatre, an independent company that was founded by actor Timothy Busfield (roles included “Field of Dreams,” “Thirtysomething” and “Trapper John, M.D.”) and his brother Buck Busfield (who now is the theater’s producing artistic director), has been a fixture on the city’s arts and culture scene since 1991.
This gleaming new landmark is surrounded by restaurants, cafes, shops, nightlife and all of Midtown’s charm with its tree-lined streets and old Victorians. The complex also offers rehearsal space, classroom and office space, multiple dressing rooms, a spacious lobby, a small restaurant, and an enclosed courtyard.
It opened January 30, and already there is a diverse lineup of plays, music, dance performances, speaker series and other entertainment. Not only is this a great off-site venue, it is also another great attraction for your delegates to enjoy during their stay in Sacramento.
