Sacramento City College will welcome internationally acclaimed jazz vocal quartet New York Voices for New York Voices: The Grand Finale Concert! on Friday, November 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the college’s Performing Arts Center. The special Sacramento appearance is part of the ensemble’s farewell tour as it prepares to conclude its extraordinary 38-year career at the end of 2026. Featuring soprano Kim Nazarian, alto Lauren Kinhan, baritone Peter Eldridge, and tenor, saxophonist, and musical director Darmon Meader, New York Voices has helped define contemporary vocal jazz through its distinctive harmonies, sophisticated arrangements, exceptional musicianship, and innovative ensemble singing. Over nearly four decades, the quartet has performed on international stages and collaborated with some of the most celebrated artists and ensembles in jazz, earning a reputation as one of the world’s premier vocal jazz groups. The group’s celebrated collaborations include performances and recordings with the Count Basie Orchestra, Paquito D’Rivera, Ivan Lins, the Bob Mintzer Big Band, and The Manhattan Transfer. With 11 albums under its own name, New York Voices has explored a broad musical landscape, from big band swing and Brazilian jazz to contemporary standards and original compositions. The Sacramento City College visit is more than one extraordinary evening of music. Throughout the day, members of New York Voices will work directly with SCC students in a special educational residency focused on vocal jazz, musicianship, artistry, and ensemble performance. The residency reflects the quartet’s longstanding commitment to jazz education and mentoring the next generation of singers and music educators. As part of its farewell celebration, New York Voices is touring the United States, Europe, and Taiwan, while preparing four new recording projects for release in 2026. A gala farewell concert is also planned for New York City in January 2027. “New York Voices: The Grand Finale Concert!” offers Sacramento audiences a rare opportunity to experience the internationally acclaimed quartet live during its final touring season and to celebrate a group whose artistry has influenced singers, educators, and jazz audiences around the world.”
