Expansion Update Archive
In May 2017, the Sacramento City Council approved a plan to move forward with design plans to renovate the Sacramento Convention Center. This exciting project will create a dynamic center for conventions, meetings, cultural experiences and more for years to come. As progress moves toward finalizing budget, design and construction schedule, this Expansion Update will communicate to customers and stakeholders each week on the status of this project, designed to improve the meeting experience for our valued customers.
The Sacramento Convention Center Complex includes Memorial Auditorium, the Community Center Theater and Convention Center. These facilities are collectively managed by the City of Sacramento’s Convention & Cultural Services Department.

Construction Update
In early January, the City began demolition of the Convention Center, starting with the center’s administration offices, also known as the Panattoni Building.
The demolition of the structure on the corner of 15th and K streets signals a significant early milestone for the C3 Project. This site is where the new entrance to the Convention Center will be. The razing of the Panattoni involved a large crane dismantling the building.

Pop-Updates - for Sacramento Locals
Beginning this month, the C3 project team will host monthly gatherings called Pop-Updates.
Sacramento residents and business owners are encouraged to stop by the Convention Center West Lobby, Thursday, Jan. 24 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for an informal meeting to learn more about the current project status and meet with any of the C3 project team members.
