Tattooed and Tenacious
Sacramento History Museum
Far from being a modern phenomenon or a fad, tattoos have a long, rich history. Discover California’s part of that history at the Sacramento History Museum’s latest exhibit! “Tattooed and Tenacious: Inked Women in California’s History” uses photographs, personal histories, and artifacts to highlight the history of tattoos and women in the state. From Indigenous women, to Victorian-era heiress Aimée Crocker, to modern women today, the exhibit shows off a largely unknown part of history.
