The Sofia, Home of B Street

The Sofia, Home of B Street Theatre, is a non-profit, live entertainment venue located in downtown Sacramento, California. Producing fresh, contemporary plays for adults and families since 1991, B Street has been named Best Live Theatre and Best Performing Arts Organization by local media and readers’ polls for the past 25 years, and now presents live music, comedy, dance, and other exciting, performing arts. Performances are year-round.

The Sofia is honored to present top-tier, professional, musical artists from throughout the world to celebrate the diversity of musical genres, and share with our audiences talent they may otherwise not get to experience. Celtic music is a particular favorite with audiences at The Sofia, which is why we are pleased to present in this season such distinguished Celtic acts as Altan, An Irish Xmas in America, We Banjo 3, Jim and Susie Malcolm, Talisk, Kevin Burke and more.

There are three performance spaces inside the Sofia: the 380-seat Sutter Theatre used primarily for live music and children’s theatre; the 250-seat Voris Theatre used exclusively by the B Street Theatre, and the 80-seat Gallery B used for intimate, musical acts and comedy. Serving all three performance rooms is the spacious Pam and Steve Eggert Lobby and the full-service Kelly Bar. Adjoining the Sofia is a beautiful, new boutique hotel, a café, and a 7-story parking structure. Most of these rooms are also available for rent to the public.
