National Convention Guest Activity Options

Wednesday, September 6th

10:00 AM:  Crocker Art Museum, established in 1873 by Judge Edwin Crocker, offers a guided tour for $8 per person.  With your dedicated museum docent, tour an amazing display of historic and contemporary art. Lunch is available for purchase at the Crocker Cafe inside the museum. (216 O Street)

2:00 PM:  California State Capitol, join a free one hour guided tour through this historic building established in 1854, followed by a visit to the State Capitol Museum.  (10th & L Street)

3:00 PM:  California State Capitol Park, join a free walking tour of the California State Capitol Park focusing on the California Vietnam Memorial. It is a tribute to the 5,822 Californians killed or missing in action in the Vietnam conflict. Full relief bronze sculptures depict a soldier's life in Vietnam.  (15th & L Street)

 
Thursday, September 7th

10:00 AM:  California Auto Museum, Walk through the history of transportation. Cars, trucks, and unique automotive displays span the years of 1885-2011.  The cost is $8 per person. (2200 Front Street)

12:00 PM - 3:00 PM:  The Old Sugar Mill,  Just 15 minutes south of downtown is an old Delta Sugar refining factory that has been transformed into an indoor gallery.  This gallery hosts 11 tasting rooms; a wine lovers delight.  Tasting fees vary depending on the tasting room. (35265 Willow Avenue, Clarksburg)

12:00 PM - 3:00 PM:  Historic Sutter's Fort,  For the non-wine drinkers, join us in a walk back in time.  Sutter's Fort has been completely restored based on the 1847 plans and brings to life California history.  Admission is $5 per adult and $3 per child. (2701 L Street)

 
Friday, September 8th

10:00 AM:  California State Railroad Museum, Take a journey into the past at the California State Railroad Museum. Experience the feats of engineering and ingenuity that have kept the Golden State steaming along for nearly 200 years – from immaculately restored engines and cars to exciting events and exhibits that bring the railroad to life. (125 I Street)

12:00 PM - 3:00 PM:  Old Sacramento Charm, Enjoy a self guided tour of the historic Old Sacramento district.  Explore, shop, dine, and see all the sights, including the Delta King, a turn of the century paddle boat which used to travel the delta between San Francisco and Sacramento.  It is now permanently moored in Sacramento as a unique hotel, restaurant and entertainment destination.

Entertainment & Nightlife: The day is done and it's time to step out on the town. Click on this nightlife link to find some great venues to unwind or dance the night away

Golden 1 Center: Sacramento is thrilled to announce that the Golden 1 center is officially open! With world class concerts, our own hometown Sacramento Kings, there is sure to be something for everyone! While the Arena is completed, there is still construction on the new Sawyer Hotel and the Downtown Commons complex.
