Spring Abstractions presented by UUSS

2425 Sierra Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95825
: (916) 213-9969
Our group show Spring Abstractions presents four local artists. Chloe Brown, a youthful 90 years old, graduated from the College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland decades before the college changed its name. She enjoys mixing decorative papers into her rich watercolors and abstracts. Keith Holman's delightful abstract style includes deeply layered and bright colors with lively energy emanating from his paintings. Keith has painted since he was a child; his formal education is in interior design. And we have JJ Jacobs, whose smaller, delightful, and whimsical paintings are in a self-described style as primitive or naïve. "JJ" has pieces held by the Crocker Art Museum, Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, and numerous commercial and private settings. Lastly, we have Shirley Hazlett, whose abstracts flow with simplicity beyond merely decorative. Some pieces layer paint over paper or fabrics; others are simple watercolors with a light touch. She completed BA degrees in art from CSUS and her MFA from San Francisco Art Studio. Shirley has a Sacramento studio. All artists will be present and speak at the Artist Reception, Thursday, April 9th, 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Presenting Artists: Chloe Fonda Shirley Hazlett Keith Holman Judy Jacobs
