Sacramento’s Elks Tower: A Downtown Architectural Landmark

6446 Riverside Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95831
: (530) 218-5438

Step inside one of Sacramento’s most iconic landmarks.

Join the Sacramento Historical Society on Tuesday, May 26 for an engaging evening exploring the historic Elks Tower at 921 11th Street. Designed and built in 1926 with funds raised entirely by its membership, this 14-story brick and terra cotta building remains a standout feature of Sacramento’s downtown skyline.

Sacramento architect Peter Dannenfelser—who has overseen the care and renovation of the building for more than 20 years—will share the story behind the tower’s creation, from the Elks as a fraternal organization to the building’s design, construction, and evolving uses over time. Along the way, he’ll highlight the architectural details that make this structure such a lasting landmark.

From the basement swimming pool to the copper cupola crowning the roof, this illustrated presentation offers a rare look inside a Sacramento treasure.

Bonus Experience: Don’t miss your chance to bid on a private tour of the Elks Tower for up to eight guests, generously donated by the speaker and auctioned live at the end of the program.

Special Offer for Elks Members: Elks members can receive 50% off admission using promo code ELKS (just $10 per person). To redeem, simply select Non-Member Admission and enter the code at checkout.
