Musical Theatre Dance (60+)

Have you ever wanted to try Broadway-style performing? Do you have an inner musical theatre kid yearning to come out and play? Then, join this workshop to learn a group dance number from a classic show! This is a four-week class with drop-in options. Each class will consist of a full-body warmup, locomotor skills practice, simple staging and choreography, and modifications for different abilities. This fun, beginner-friendly class welcomes dancers ages 60+, of all ethnicities, genders, and cultural backgrounds. ABOUT YOUR TEACHER Dr. Angela Dee Alforque grew up in a first-generation FilipinoAmerican family in South Sacramento. She trained in dance, voice, and musical theatre in local studios and community theatres; completed her B.A. (Special Major: Drama/Social Science, Dance Minor) and M.A. (Special Major: Multicultural American History & Performance) at Sacramento State University; and earned her Ed.D from Saint Mary’s College of California. “Dr. A” served as Performing Arts Director for Parker School in Hawai`i; Sacramento City College Theatre & Film professor; and adjunct faculty for the Sacramento State Department of Theatre & Dance. Angela trained and performed with Ebo Okokán Afro-Cuban Drum & Dance; Sinag-tala Filipino Theater Ensemble; and Kūhai Hālau O Kaponookalani. She has worked in television and film casting; directs and choreographs for theatre companies; and serves as a founding Guiding Matriarch for Matriarchy Theatre. She currently is creative director of LOVE IN MOTION, a series of community-rooted classes, mentorship opportunities, and collaborations with Sacramento artists.
