This is the 2nd annual 5k / 10k / Kids Fun Run charity run organized by Lace Up For Learning (www.laceupforlearning.org) - a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was organized last year by five 8th grade friends dedicated to running and driven by a passion for education and community service.
The event is organized by five 9th grade friends who believe in the value of community, the importance of education, and the power of running. The organizers have been running together for three years on the Folsom Middle School cross country and track teams. This year, they are freshmen at Vista Del Lago High School in Folsom.
The inaugural 2024 event raised $12,450 and funded more than 20 classroom projects across Sacramento, reaching 2,045 students. This year, the goal is to raise $20,000 and have more than 200 runners in attendance. All ages and abilities are welcome to come out for a great event and a better cause. The Folsom Parkway trails allow for strollers, dogs, runners, and walkers. There will even be a kid's fun run obstacle course for the littlest participants.
