The Gallery at 48 Natoma is pleased to announce Art Movements in Fiber, a juried exhibition of quilts by the members of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates), Northern California and Northern Nevada Regions, on view from January 31 through March 27. The public is invited to celebrate Art Movements in Fiber at a free opening reception on January 31 from 6–8 p.m. Carole Rossi and Lin Schiffner, the curators of Art Movements in Fiber, state, “The exhibition represents the juried work of 43 talented members of the Northern California/Nevada Region of Studio Art Quilt Associates, a non-profit organization with over 4,000 members worldwide whose mission is to promote the art quilt as a fine art medium. The artists were challenged to create an art quilt inspired or influenced by an art movement or genre of their choosing and to explain the nature of that influence or inspiration. Artists responded with creativity, innovation, and energy, and we are thrilled and honored to premier their work in this beautiful venue. The Art Movements in Fiber exhibition includes 48 art quilts and will tour for three years.” The Gallery at 48 Natoma is managed by the Folsom Parks and Recreation Department and showcases art by regional and national artists. It offers innovative art exhibitions to the community. The gallery is free and open to the public. The Gallery is located at 48 Natoma Street, next to Folsom City Hall. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with additional hours on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6–8 p.m. Free tours can be arranged by appointment.
