X Games announced today that the renowned actions sports and music festival will call Sacramento home for the next three years.

X Games Sacramento 2025 will mark the 30th anniversary celebration of X Games, bringing three days of action sports culture and competitions to Sacramento’s Cal Expo August 22-24, 2025.

“Some of the biggest moments in X Games history took place in the San Francisco Bay,” said Jeremy Bloom, CEO of X Games. “25-years later, we’re thrilled to bring X Games back to Northern California to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the brand.”

With the support of Cal Expo and Visit Sacramento, X Games and California Dreamin’ Entertainment are committed to making X Games Sacramento in 2025, 2026 and 2027 the ultimate showcase for action sports and action sports culture, with more competition, more music, and more excitement. X Games Sacramento will include skateboarding, BMX, and Moto X, bringing more than 100 of the best action sports athletes who will compete for over $1 million in prize money. In addition, it will feature a full lineup of amazing music appearances to be announced in the coming months.

“As a Sacramento native, I’m incredibly proud to bring the X Games to my hometown. This iconic event allows us to showcase some of the world’s most talented athletes while also highlighting and engaging our local businesses. Sacramento has always had a strong sense of community, and we’re eager to share that energy with the world. We’re committed to creating an unforgettable experience for both local fans and visitors alike,” said Steve Dooner, CEO, California Dreamin’ Entertainment.

Tim Martinez, CEO of California Exposition & California State Fair added, “Hosting the X Games at Cal Expo underscores Sacramento's growing reputation as a vibrant hub for world-class events. We are excited to partner with X Games and California Dreamin’ Entertainment to bring this unparalleled celebration of action sports and music to our community. This event will not only showcase the talent of incredible athletes but also boost Sacramento’s visibility as a destination for sports and entertainment enthusiasts.”

The 30th anniversary of X Games also marks the countdown to X Games League, the brand’s new global team-based format, set to kick off in 2026. As part of the new partnership between X Games and California Dreamin’ Entertainment, Sacramento is the first event location to be announced as a host for X Games League.

“I grew up right outside of Sacramento, so this really is a dream come true for me,” said Bryce Tryon, five-time X Games BMX athlete, today in a press conference. “X Games has always been a huge part of my life, so I’m stoked to feel like I’m playing host to a competition that has given me so much over the years and show my hometown the best that action sports have to offer.”
