The 2014 Amgen Tour of California’s official start is in Downtown Sacramento in front of the Capitol, showcasing the country’s biggest cycling event in the heart of California.

And it's free to watch.

Cyclists will start in front of the State Capitol in Downtown Sacramento at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 11. They then head up Ninth Street and out of town on their way to nearby Gold Country before returning to the city for an exciting multi-lap finish circuit around the Capitol and several downtown streets around 3 p.m.

Where to Watch

The map below shows the full route for Stage 1, and the inset shows the finish circuit. Riders will pass along the full route once, and then will do several laps on the finish circuit, which is anticipated to be the most exciting portion of the stage.

Vendor booths, race merchandise and hospitality areas will be set up in front of the Capitol.

Where to Park

Street parking in the city is free on Sundays in most areas, but lots still require payment. There are several city lots in Downtown Sacramento, and other pay lots in the area.

For spectators riding bicycles to the event, a bike valet will be set up in front of the west steps of the Capitol.
