Capitol Park Loop Trail
This centrally located 1.1 mile loop runs around the perimeter of the California State Capitol building. The area surrounding the Capitol is typically filled with runners on their lunch break or after work.
The American River Bike Trail (Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail)
The Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail, more commonly known as American River Parkway, runs for 32 miles from Discovery Park in Old Sacramento to Beale’s Point near Folsom Lake. The completely paved trail, which is mostly flat with a bit of rolling terrain, welcomes runners of all skill sets. For those running a marathon in the future, the Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail is great for marathon race training as it is the destination for many local races.
McKinley Park
Looking to get a quick run in? This one-mile decomposed granite path runs along the perimeter of McKinley Park, offering views of the iconic rose garden, duck ponds, and tennis courts.
William Land Park
This paved 3.61 mile loop located right outside Downtown Sacramento offers plenty of shade through Sacramento’s largest park. As you make your way through William Land Park, you will see familiar Sacramento landmarks such as the Sacramento Zoo, Fairytale Town, Funderland, and the William Land Park Golf Course.
