Every four years, the biggest soccer tournament in the world takes center stage, and yes, we are talking about FIFA World Cup 2022. For the first time in FIFA’s history, the signature tournament is held in the winter and in the Arab nation of Qatar. There are 32 teams across the globe ready to compete with opening ceremony and festivities kicking off this Sunday, Nov. 20, along with the opening clash between Qatar and Ecuador. If you couldn’t catch a flight across the globe in hopes of rooting for your favorite players and teams, FEAR NOT, because here in Sacramento, we have a few spots for your viewing pleasure.
Zócalo – located in the heart of Midtown – is calling itself the epicenter of World Cup fever…just look at the gold cup trophy banners hanging outside their doors. Not only are they offering drink and food specials, but they are hosting watch parties for all 32 games.
If it gets too crowded, you can always head to one of Sacramento Republic FC's recommended watch parties. Fans can join them in watching all USA and Mexico matches and select matchups featuring Spain, Germany, Portugal, England, Argentina, and more – for FREE – at any of the six regional Mimosa House locations, as well as Public House and Iron Horse Tavern in Midtown. Attendees at each location can scan a QR code at their table for the chance to win cool prizes, including 2023 Republic FC season tickets, gift cards, swag and more!
