This Week: Beers, Basketball and Ballerinas

Sacramento is a mixed-bag of fun this week: you can go back in time to early 20th century Paris with the Sacramento Ballet, taste the best of Bavaria at Oktoberfest and celebrate the resilient Sacramento Kings and its nonprofit partners at the Capitol (plus, much more!). 1. Care Begins with Me, Sheraton Grand Hotel-Sacramento
Don't miss out on this health and lifestyle event tailored for women. Momastery blogger and Carry On, Warrior author, Glennon Doyle Melton will keynote this special ladies night out.

2. Art Mix/Architecture Festival Launch, Crocker Art Museum
Come out to celebrate this unstructured celebration of all things architectural. Highlights include cardborigami with Tina Hovsepian, SacDigiFab's Pixel City and live music from Keys on Plastic.

3. Harvest for Hunger 2013, River City Food Bank
Celebrate the harvest season with an evening of food trucks, drinks, food bank tours and music. Funds support the food banks efforts to nourish 6,000+ families and seniors in our region.

4. Sacramento International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, Crest Theater
In its 22nd year, the film festival brings contemporary LGBTI film and video programming to the greater Sacramento community.

5. 46th Annual Oktoberfest, Sacramento Turn Verein
Polka, folk dancing, choir music and, of course, German food and beer bring a bit of Bavaria here to Sacramento.

6. Andre Nickatina and Krayzie Bone, Ace of Spades
Hear the "Yay" Area legend throw it down with one of Cleveland's fastest rappers in this special one-night performance. Supporting artists include Babnit and Charlie Muscle.

7. Sacramento Puppy and Kitten Show, Cal Expo
Expect an overload of cuteness at this event dedicated to our furry friends. Costume contests, pet psychics, and agility courses are just some of the unique things you'll encounter.

8. Paris 1913, Sacramento Ballet Studios
According to legend, Paris was knocked for a loop with the premiere of Rite of Spring. See Ron Cunningham's retelling of this avant garde theater production while enjoying French cheeses and wines.
