Sacramento Beer Week is back in 2015 to showcase the great Sacramento beers, breweries and events that make California’s capital city one of the best beer destinations in California.
Run by the Northern California Brewers Guild, Sacramento Beer Week is an 11-day celebration from Feb. 26 - March 8 with everything from beer and food pairings to a festival on Capitol Mall with breweries from all over the state and beyond.
“For us, it’s all about promoting the local craft brewers,” said Darrell Amerine, executive director of the Northern California Brewers Guild. “Since the Sacramento area has grown so big for beer over the past five years, we are really trying to highlight Sacramento as a craft beer location for people coming from out of town.”
The week kicks off with the Sacramento Brewers’ Showcase at the California Automobile Museum in Old Sacramento. More than 30 local brewers – based within 45 miles of the capital – will be pouring, and an optional tasting of IPAs is available as a ticket upgrade.
“The IPAs for the tasting session will be anything that’s a double or above or a specialty like black IPAs and red IPAs and Belgian IPAs,” Amerine said.
Visit the official event page for ticket price options. The California Automobile Museum is located at 2200 Front St., and the event will be held from 5:30 - 9 p.m. Feb. 26, 2015.
Throughout Sacramento Beer Week, special events will be held at restaurants, breweries and other locations. Amerine said beer fans can expect to see rare and one-off beers created specifically for beer week, collaborations between local breweries and restaurants focusing on pairings of food with beer. Since Sacramento is America's Farm-to-Fork Capital, chances are the beer you're drinking and the food you're eating will all be locally sourced.
The full event listing will be available soon on the official Sacramento Beer Week website.
Closing out Sacramento Beer Week is the Capitol Beer Fest, which runs from 2 - 5 p.m. March 8 on Capitol Mall in downtown Sacramento. With breweries from all over the state and beyond coming in, participants will get a comprehensive overview of beer styles from California and the West Coast.
