Broadway Sacramento’s run of Shrek the Musical debuted last night to a packed house, kicking off their season.

Based on the popular film (and book) of similar name, Shrek the Musical brings ogres, princesses, and fairytale creatures to the stage, complete with song and dance. Elaborate sets, fabulous make up, intricate costumes, and innovative theatrics capture your imagination and bring the fairytale to life. It is no easy feat to bring a previously-only-animated world to the live action stage, but Shrek the Musical succeeds in doing so, enwrapping you wholly in the fantasy-world of Shrek and friends.

Shrek the Musical runs through this Sunday, October 2. Be sure to pick up your Shrek ears before you head into the theatre! Tickets are still available (note: this production is recommended for theatre goers age 4 and older). Showtimes are: Wed 8pm; Thurs 2pm & 8pm; Fri 8pm; Sat 2pm & 8pm; Sun 2pm.

The Broadway Sacramento season continues with Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles (Dec 27-Jan 1), West Side Story (Jan 24-Jan 29), Mamma Mia! (March 13-March 18), Million Dollar Quartet (Apr 17-Apr 22), and Wicked (May 23-June 17).
