While “funky” may not be the first word that comes to mind when thinking about Sacramento, the river city does have its fair share of funkiness. Just take a leisurely stroll through Midtown or Downtown and you’ll see what we mean. You’ll find hip bars & nightclubs, home-grown farm-to-fork restaurants, fun shops and edgy galleries. And if you’re looking for a funky and unique venue to have a small meeting or after-hours event, Sacramento’s got that, too. Here are three of our favorites - and they're all within walking distance of major conference venues such as the Sacramento Convention Center, Memorial Auditorium or Golden 1 Center, not to mention several hotels.

  1. Vintage Monkey. Located just north of Midtown, the Vintage Monkey motorcycle repair shop offers 5,000 square feet of interior warehouse space that is decorated with vintage artifacts, pop culture artwork and an impressive backdrop of classic and historic motorcycles. While this is a working motorcycle repair shop, 2,000 square feet of space is reserved for events and includes a 30-foot round circular seating area and buffet table that seats 45 guests with plenty of surrounding standing room. The shop does not offer on-site catering, however, it does have a 360-square-foot prep room if you would like to bring in a caterer. Bonus: free parking. www.thevintagemonkey.com Vintage Monkey Venue Sacramento
  2. Beatnik Studios. This is a one-of-a-kind venue. Housed in a century-old former power company building in downtown’s hip R Street Corridor, Beatnik’s more than 5,000 square feet of space is part photo studio, art gallery and event space rolled into one spectacular venue. Its interior décor of brick, concrete, steel and a plethora of natural light creates a lovely and modern space for your event. Bonus: don't miss the beautiful murals in the parking lot and nearby alley. www.beatnik-studios.com Beatnik Studios Parking Lot Mural
  3. Coin-Op Game Room. Coin-Op Game Room will take your guests way, way back. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown’s "The Kay" district and within walking distance of the Sacramento Convention Center, Golden 1 Center and several hotels, this fun grown-up playground offers 6,000 square feet of space with 50 classic arcade games and 13 pinball machines – many of which date to the 1980s – and serves appetizers and small bites, pizza, desserts, craft cocktails and craft beer. Coin-Op Game Room lends itself perfectly to teambuilding events, family reunions or just a fun night out when entertaining clients. www.coinopsac.com Coin Op Game Room SacramentoNeed help securing one of these Sacramento venues for your group?
