With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, (Monday, March 17 to be exact), Sacramento is lucky enough to have a number of green-themed events that will bring out the Irish in all of us! Read up on some of our area’s sham-rocking shindigs below:

 

 

 

Family-friendly Fun:
Proof that St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just about green beer.

St. Patrick’s Day Brunch; Sacramento River-Train – West Sacramento; Sat 10am
Savor a three-course brunch with countryside views during this relaxing train ride. Throughout the three hour ride, Jim Neilson will perform folk and Irish pub music.

18th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade; Old Sacramento; Sat 1pm
See Irish and Highland dancers, pipe and drum bands, historic re-enactors and cultural organizations join together for this beloved Old Sacramento tradition.

St. Patrick’s Day River Cruise; L Street Docks; Sat Various Times
Enjoy a relaxing one hour cruise along the Sacramento River with a face painter and balloon artist for the kids!


Saucy Shenanigans:
Okay, proof that green beer can make St. Patrick’s Day a little fun.

St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl; Starts at Blue Cue; Sat 3:30pm
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at as many Downtown Sacramento bars as you can! This free pub crawl, presented by the 5hundy Social Club, will feature food and drink specials.

St. Patrick’s Day Block Party on L Street
de Vere’s Irish Pub, Firestone Public House and MiX Downtown; Mon 9am-2am

Do St. Patrick’s Day right! Go green on the corner of 16th and L Streets for an exciting block party. The three venues will serve up great beers, Irish pub eats and jiggy tunes.

The Green Rager; Midtown Bar Fly; Mon 9pm
Save yourself some green and dance your night away. Even if you aren’t old enough to drink, this St. Patty’s Day party is promises boomin’ beats for Adults 18+ crowd.


Getting “Jiggy” With It:
These Irish music and dance acts that will have you saying “Erin go bragh” (Ireland forever)!

St. Patrick’s Day Pre-Party with The Pikeys & Stepping Stone
Fox and Goose Public House; Sat 9pm

Come out and enjoy traditional Irish music from Stepping Stone, then get  ridiculous with the best Irish punk band in town, The Pikeys.

National Dance Company of Ireland – Rhythm of the Dance
Harris Center for the Arts; Mon & Tues 7:30pm-9:30pm

Made up of a gifted young cast of dancers, musicians and three Irish tenors, this show has won acclaim with its traditionally rooted yet modern take on Irish dance.

Cahersiveen; UC Davis Mondavi Center; Mon 6:30pm
Founded in 2003, the group features a repertoire ranging from simple old Irish songs and American folk classics to hard-driving, edgy, Scottish and Irish jigs and reels.
