Sacramento, CA - After launching the capital city's first Farm-to-Fork Week in 2013, the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB) was honored with the Downtown Sacramento Partnership's 2014 VIBE Award at the annual State of Downtown event.

The VIBE Award stands for Visionary Innovators in Building Excellence and recognizes local organizations that are committed to revitalizing downtown. Sacramento's inaugural Farm-to-Fork week combined four downtown events that celebrated the abundance of fresh, locally-grown and produced food and drinks that Sacramento offers. Overall, the events attracted more than 27,000 people to downtown celebrations.

"We are humbled and honored to have received this award," said Steve Hammond, President and CEO of the SCVB. "The SCVB is dedicated to creating events that celebrate Sacramento as the Farm-to-Fork Capital of America to ultimately benefit our local economy and to foster community pride. By working together with organizations like the other VIBE nominees, we believe that we can make a positive impact on both downtown and the entire Sacramento region."

Planning for the 2014 Farm-to-Fork celebration is already underway, and the events promise to be even bigger this year, with new features and exciting additions in the works. Due to the overwhelming success of the first celebration, the event will expand in 2014 to encompass two weeks instead of one, and the current schedule of events can be found here.
